Crane v. Liberty Pumps

Crane sued Liberty Pumps (“LP”) for patent infringement in federal court in Texas. Prior to the filing of any answer, but after developing a detailed positions on noninfringement and invalidity, negotiating principals for LP engaged Crane’s president in negotiations, which over the course of several resulted in a settlement agreement whereby agreed to pay a small going forward royalty to Crane, but no money for past alleged infringement, in exchange for a dismissal of the action and release from all liability. A settlement agreement was negotiated, drafted and finalized.
