Our History
The Bilicki Law Firm was founded by Byron Bilicki in 1993. Having practiced for several years, prior to that time, with international intellectual property boutique and general practice firms headquartered in Manhattan and Pittsburgh, respectively, it became clear to him that many companies located outside the Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets were being under-represented, particularly with respect to sophisticated IP matters, unless such companies were willing to engage the top firms in the major markets.
Even when they did, however, many were not receiving the level of personal attention, education, and other invested services that only lawyers and law firms in closer proximity to such clients and their businesses can deliver.
Our goal has always been to grow an IP law firm with a deep enough bench to provide clients within the western New York, western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio region, with face-to-face access to a broad range of sophisticated IP legal services, across a multitude of matters, while reducing their legal budgets from those levels typically associated with larger firms in larger markets.
As reflected in our roster of Representive Clients, Representative Engagements, and Case Studies, The Bilicki Law Firm has been successful in achieving its goal. Our success within the region has translated to success outside the region, as the firm represents clients in several states and countries around the world.
The Bilicki Law Firm is positioned for continued growth, while staying committed to our original focus. Through our strategic alliance initiative, we have forged robust alliances with top regional, general practice law firms in New York and Pennsylvania, with the goal of working with member firms in dual-harness to provide their clients with the same sophisticated IP legal services delivered in the same face to face manner. At the same time, our institutional IP clients are provided with access to essential non-IP legal services delivered by those strategic alliance members best suited to handle a particular matter, in dual-harness with us and with the same level of personal attentiveness and price sensitivity with which our clients have become accustomed.
In this way, each client receives the individualized attention and price sensitivity that only a regional boutique firm can provide, while at the same time, has access to a sophisticated array of services and lawyers with the skill, experience, and power to handle "bet the company" matters normally associated with large general firms in distant, larger markets.
As such, we are not, and never will be, a large law firm measured by number of lawyers or offices. Indeed, we feel that we have discovered a better, more cost-effective way to handle not only clients' day-to-day legal issues, business transactions, and disputes, but also their most challenging, significant, and critical ones.
