The Bilicki Law Firm presents IP Seminars
The Bilicki Law Firm, P.C., a full-service intellectual property law firm, with offices in Jamestown, is presenting a seminar entitled "Intellectual Property Overview" at Jamestown Community College's Carnahan Theater the evening of Thursday, March 5, 2009, from 6:30 to 9:00 PM.
"This seminar is the first in a series being presented by the Firm," according to Byron A. Bilicki, the firm's Managing Shareholder. This first seminar is intended to provide businesses, entrepreneurs, and inventors with a working knowledge of patent, trademark and copyright law fundamentals. Such knowledge, now more than ever, is vital to business success."
Seminar presenters will include Carl A. Hjort, Esquire of The Bilicki Law Firm's Jamestown Office. Mr. Hjort graduated magna cum laude in 2004 from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where he served as Managing Editor of the Law Review and received the Marshall Scholarship. Prior to joining the Firm in 2005, Mr. Hjort served as a judicial extern for Chief Judge Matia of the United States District Court of Northern Ohio. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Hjort was employed as a chemist for Promerus, LLC. At Promerus, he conducted research into the properties of cyclic olefin polymers for the semiconductor industry. Mr. Hjort is admitted to practice in New York and Ohio, as well as before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Hjort represents large and small companies, as well as creative individuals, in the areas of IP enforcement, protection and licensing.
"We want to help creative people and innovative businesses in our community become better informed not only about how to protect intellectual property assets, but also about the value of such assets," Mr. Hjort commented. "Unfortunately, many common misconceptions exist about intellectual property law that create impediments to effective decision making and prevent businesses from recognizing and maximizing the value of their IP assets. Our goal is to provide a solid foundation in the basic concepts of intellectual property law so that businesses and individuals can use this knowledge to enhance their bottom lines."
The seminar is free for those who register in advance. Interested persons can register by going to www.bilickilaw.com and completing the registration form. A fee of $15.00 will be charged to anyone registering at the door the evening of the seminar. Light refreshments will be served. Additional information about the seminar can also be obtained by calling the Bilicki Law Firm, P.C. at 716-664-5600.
